An event app that tailors it's events according to your needs. Want to find the most happening house party, you got it. Want to learn how to grill the best steak, you got it. Create your own event and show the city what an amazing host you can be and more!
The biggest positive was that I was spoiled for choice when conducting market analysis. But for our app we mainly focused on SnapChat and Meetup and looked into replicating a features from the Campfire from Niantic.
The map interface and events popping out depending on your proximity and location was something heavily inspired by Snapchat and Pokemon Go. The main motivation for the user through the app is to explore. We want users to walk out, engage with new people, it is designed as a means to increase your social skills and explore the new city you might have moved into. The more you explore, the more curated your map becomes.
We essentially wanted to smush the great features of Meetup, Campfire, Pokemon Go and SnapChat into one cohesive experience. You as a user have an avatar that you can level up by exploring the city you live in, attending new events, meeting new people, joining societies, clubs etc.
Make it feel like a game and users can motivate themselves even more. Get badges that you can attach to your profile (party monster, event extraordinaire for example). The higher your level the more likely you are to get access to the exclusive events and also helps maintain a level of trust between users when meeting/interacting with each other. I know this seems a little Black Mirror-ish but I promise that was not our motivation behind creating this app 😅.
